Use our
holiday apartment / house as the centre and starting point for
short outings. Have a walk along one of the numerous paths,
marked as part of a touring system, crossing the Arnsberger Wald,
a national park with a rich flora and fauna. Paved paths, for
their greater part free from motor vehicles, lead around the Möhne
Lake and are well suited for bicycle- and inline-skating tours,
today also for E-Bikes.
Make use of
the manifold possibilities to have a swim or rent a boat to relax in and on the surface of the lake.
Visiting
the dam and the
Landschafts-Informationszentrum (LIZ), a kind of museum with
its main focus on nature, connected with a boat-tour on the
“MS-Möhnesee”
(for 600 persons) will never be dismissed from your memory.
Explore the
hanseatic town of Soest, not far away, with its famous framework
streets and churches made from green limestones. Or have an
excursion to the pilgrimage town of Werl or the governmental
town of Arnsberg.
Enjoy
recreational hours in the health resort of Bad Sassendorf or Bad
Waldliesborn or have a walk in their beautiful parks.

remoter regions
Particularly for families with children visiting the public
baths in
Soest, Warstein, Werl,
Arnsberg,
Ahlen, Paderborn or Gütersloh
will be attractive. Swimmers' and non-swimmers' pools,
whirlpools and water-slides will certainly be great fun for the
whole family.
For a day-trip
we recommend leisure parks like “Fort
Fun” in Bestwig-Wasserfall, the “Panoramapark”
of Kirchhunden-Oberhunden, “The
Movie Park Germany” in Bottrop-Kirchhellen or the “Erlebnis-
und Safaripark” (Adventure and Safari-Park) in Stukenbrock.
Every summer the
Karl-May Festivals perform western plays in Elspe. In
Willingen and Winterberg you can enjoy the summer-toboggan-run,
situated in an area that is popular for skiing in winter. In the
two last-mentioned places you can also visit the big ski-jumps.
The
ore-mine of Ramsbeck is attractive for all who are
interested in early underground mining.
In Warstein
you may visit the stalactite cavern or - alternatively - the
local brewery, if you do not prefer to try the “Krombacher” in
Kreuztal or the “Veltins” beer in the Grevenstein brewery.
In the
near-by Ruhr district (some 55 kilometres away from the Möhne
Lake)
numerous and different ways of leisure-time activities are
offered to the tourist. Apart from various cultural attractions,
as for example the Musical “Starlight
Express” in Bochum, you will find museums which inform you about
local history, arts and other subjects. The Dortmund animal park
is worth spending a whole day in it. If you like shopping, we
can recommend the “CentrO”
in Oberhausen.
Famous
football is played, for example, in the World Championship
stadiums of Dortmund and Schalke.
